Evangelism/Missions is one of our purposes of Calvary Evangelical Church. We are committed to reaching people both in our community and around the world with the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our Missions outreach includes: 8 couples from our church being sent out to serve Christ fulltime around the world; our youth and college age young people serving on short-term missions projects, adult work teams going to various missions sites, as well as financially supporting the Heritage Bible Board, Habitat for Humanity, Chief, Van Wert Area Youth for Christ, WTGN Radio, The Pregnancy Life Center and more.
Calvary is planning an adult work-related missions trip to Phoenix, AZ on March 1-8, 2008 to assist Tom & Huron Claus at the Christian Hope Indian Eskimo Fellowship (CHIEF). Lord willing, if building permits are received we will be able to begin construction on a new worship center. The nature of the actual physical work will depend on how far the worship center has progressed. In addition to that, we will have the opportunity to help tear down and reconstruct several car ports, do some painting and general maintenance work, some office work, cooking and fruit harvesting.
The Youth of Calvary Student Ministries will be traveling to Toronto, Canada on July 13-19, 2008. They will be performing street ministry, working in sports evangelism, working at foodbanks, prayer-walking, tutoring Somalian children of the Muslim faith, connecting with the homeless, reaching out to the homosexual district. They will come in contact with many people. There will be many opportunities to use their gifts and abilities and to share their faith with those who have never heard the good news of Jesus Christ.
